PROGRAMS
Star Dome programs have primarily been developed to inspire an appreciation and wonder of the night sky and to create a fun, memorable learning experience for all audiences. It is also worth noting, our school programs have been designed to support curriculum objectives found in science, social studies and language arts.
PRICING There is a
$50 set up fee and each show is $100.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
Sky
Stories Sky Stories reaffirms the wonder that people have always felt for the sky and natural world through storytelling. This show focuses on First Peoples’ stories of the sky. Length: 40 minutes
Learn about the Sun and
watch how it moves through the sky as the Earth rotates. See how the
Sun's path changes with the seasons. Discover the Sun is a star and
find out where stars come from. Observe the Moon and learn about its
phases.
Learn about some of the great heroes from Greek mythology like Hercules and Perseus, hear their stories and discover how to find them in the night sky. Length: 40 minutes
This amazing survey of our
solar system features a visually stunning tour of the planets. We also
explore other objects like moons, asteroids, comets and even get to
handle meteorites!
Enjoy a tour of our local night sky. Learn some prominent seasonal constellations, which planets are visible and see what wonders the sky has to offer! Length: 40 minutes
Learn how various cultures from the past and present view the night sky. Hear myths and legends inspired by the sun, moon and stars and how ancient people used the motions of these celestial objects in their lives. Length: 40 minutes
Beginning with the geocentric model, examine how our ideas about the nature of the Universe have evolved through history. Explore the wonders existing beyond our solar system. Length: 60 minutes

Graduated from the University of Manitoba in Physics (B.Sc.) and has spent the past 25 years as an avid amateur astronomer. His keen interest in astronomy as well as history and mythology has led to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the night sky which he has enthusiastically shared in volunteer outreach programs. Darren has made 4 telescope mirrors from blank glass disks and constructed 2 complete telescopes.
EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT Holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta. Has played many roles in the education system over the past 18 years including teacher's aide, classroom teacher, private tutor and student advocate. |
